La Pelota, Milano – the crowd of young fashion show goers and movers were mushrooming in front of La Pelota. A venue for big events and runways within Brera area with an exclusive avant-garde sensation everytime a show is hold. Me and my friends were talking on instagram last Monday that, now that the fashion week was over, there ain’t nothing to be excited about. We almost forget about this event and the morning of Wednesday everyone on social media is kind of doing the last minute selection of outfits to wear.
Glad the organizers had sent this fast track invite through my email so I skipped the lines. It’s not by privilege but an initiative they thought to cut-off the waiting time of people entering the show. I find it also genial and practical. So we managed to snap a few photos before and after the show.
This year’s judges are the big names such as Sara Maino; senior editor of Vogue Italy & Vogue Talents, Gian Luigi Paracchini; fashion critic of the Corriere della Sera, Elisa Palomino; director of Fashion Print Department at Central St . Martins Art School in London and Tamu McPherson; founder of the famous blog All the Pretty Birds and photographer of street-style. The contestants came from all over the world:
1. Aarón Nachtailer – Argentina
2. Yekaterina Ivankova – Kazakhstan
3. Elísabet Karlsdóttir – Iceland
4. Haoliang Sun – China
5. Lorenzo Sisi – Italy
6. Lotte van Dijk – Netherlands
7. Nicolas Martin Garcia – Italy
8. Polina Zubakina – Russia
9. Yelda Şebnem Eker – Turkey
10. Sophie Sälekari – Finland
11. Yuko Koike – Japan
12. Yusuf Kalem – Turkey
Every designer showcased three of the best pieces from their collection. This year’s winner is Yusuf Kalem from Turkey. I have to admit that at first it did not struck me right away but his pieces are audacious and strong and warrior-like. There’s one piece from Aarón Nachtailer that I really like. It’s the sweater with fur sleeves. I think it’s very cool street style design. The event was concluded with a speech by Mark Oaten who is the CEO of International Fur Federation (IFF). This competition was held to promote young designers and with the support of Vogue Talents that was held on the occasion of Mifur, the International Fur and Leather Exhibition.
“We are thrilled that REMIX has the support of Vogue Italy for this edition. The talent and skills of young designers is extraordinary and their ability to innovate, re-invent and work materials has also this year reached the highest levels. Vogue Italy has recognized these merits, giving designers an incredible boost aspirated reach (and exceed) their goals and with whom they give their 100% to be up to the competition,” said Mark Oaten, IFF CEO.
This is the 13th edition of the Remix yet it’s my first time to attend the show and it’s such a lovely feeling! It’s another memorable experience that I can always scan through the blog and cherish, especially it’s best shared with friends! Gradually you’ll see my fashion week outfits.
